Paraguay reports 18.3% reduction in breast cancer deaths

Paraguay has recorded an 18.3% reduction in breast cancer deaths between 2020 and 2025. According to data from the Ministry of Public Health, the number of fatalities dropped from 491 in 2020 to 401 in 2025.

The national mortality rate also saw a decline, falling from 16 deaths per 100,000 women in 2020 to 12.6 per 100,000 women in 2025. While the trend is favorable, health authorities emphasize that breast cancer remains a major public health challenge.

Regional data shows the highest concentration of cases in the Central department with 126 deaths, followed by Alto Paraná with 45. The highest mortality rates per 100,000 women were observed in Misiones (22.4) and Paraguarí (22). The Ministry continues to urge women to seek early detection and regular medical consultations to improve recovery possibilities.
