Inter-American Development Bank funds infrastructure projects in Argentina and Paraguay

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is providing significant financial support for infrastructure and development projects across South America. In Argentina, the IDB has approved a US$ 200 million guarantee to back the AMBA I project, a strategic initiative aimed at expanding the electrical transport network to prevent power outages in the metropolitan region. This project is part of a larger US$ 6.6 billion national plan to improve electricity supply.

In Mendoza, Argentina, the provincial government approved an US$ 85 million IDB loan dedicated to digitalizing the public health system. The funds will be used to upgrade medical equipment, develop digital platforms, and implement electronic health records.

In Paraguay, the IDB has identified a critical need for US$ 15.175 billion in investments between 2025 and 2030. These funds are required to address deficits in transport, water and sanitation, electricity, and telecommunications to sustain economic growth and meet Sustainable Development Goals.
