Paraguay soybean crushing reaches second historical record

Paraguay's soybean crushing industry reached its second-highest historical volume in July, processing approximately 382,000 tons. This figure is just below the all-time record of over 385,000 tons set in March 2017, according to the Cámara Paraguaya de Procesadores de Oleaginosas y Cereales (Cappro).

The cumulative volume for the first seven months of the year reached 2,234,720 tons, representing a 12.7% year-on-year increase and the highest level for this period since 2018. This growth increases the availability of oil, meal, and hulls for livestock, food industries, and biofuel production.

Cappro noted that to maintain this momentum, there is a need to improve the sector's competitiveness and leverage the higher volume of raw materials entering processing plants.
