Paraguay tax pressure reaches 11.2% of GDP in 2025

Paraguay's tax pressure reached 11.2% of GDP at the close of 2025, according to the Dirección Nacional de Ingresos Tributarios (DNIT). The institution reported an additional 11.5 trillion Guaraníes (approximately US$ 1.529 billion) in revenue following the integration of tax and customs administrations.

DNIT Director Óscar Orué noted that the agency added over 270,000 new taxpayers and improved digitalization and controls. Fiscal oversight resulted in more than 2,000 concluded cases involving taxes and fines exceeding 1.6 trillion Guaraníes (roughly US$ 230 million). Additionally, the institution filed 289 complaints with the Public Ministry involving 470 taxpayers regarding the alleged use of over 3,000 fraudulent invoices, representing approximately US$ 130 million.
