Paraguay youth demographics show significant regional disparities

Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reveals that Paraguay's youth population accounts for 24.7% of the total population, totaling approximately 1.5 million people. The demographic is split nearly equally by gender, with 773,239 males and 752,616 females. Three-quarters of this population resides in urban areas.

Regarding economic activity, three out of five young people are engaged in labor, with an average monthly income of G. 2,605,000. However, significant disparities exist in social indicators: only one in four young people has health insurance, and while 70% are single, internet access drops from nearly 75% in some households to just over 40% in rural areas.

Poverty levels also vary significantly by region. In Caazapá, 30% of youth live in monetary poverty, compared to approximately 5% in Asunción. The age distribution is relatively balanced across three groups: 15–19, 20–24, and 25–29 years old.
