Paraguay youth labor informality decreases to 68.2%
In Paraguay, official data released by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MTESS) and the National Institute of Statistics (INE) indicates a shift in the youth labor market. Between 2022 and 2025, non-agricultural informal employment among those aged 15 to 29 decreased by 3.2 percentage points, falling from 71.4% to 68.2%.
Youths aged 15 to 29 make up approximately 24.7% of the Paraguayan population, totaling over 1.5 million people. While the participation rate in the labor market is 65.8%, challenges remain regarding job quality. Informal work remains high among the youngest demographic, affecting 89.4% of those aged 15 to 19.
In the electoral sphere, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJE) reported that young people represent 27% of the registered voters for the upcoming municipal elections, with 1,363,895 voters aged 18 to 29.
