Paraguayan child airlifted to Asunción for specialized burn treatment

A four-year-old boy from Bella Vista, Itapúa, was urgently evacuated via aircraft to Asunción after suffering severe burns. The accident occurred while family members were burning waste.

The Ministry of Public Health reported that the child sustained burns to approximately 12% of his body, with the most significant injuries affecting his face and both hands. After receiving initial stabilization at the General Hospital of Encarnación, an aeromedical operation was coordinated between the Ministry of Public Health and the Paraguayan Air Force.

A Cessna aircraft was used to transport the patient to the National Center for Burns and Reconstructive Surgery (CENQUER) in the capital. The child is currently under the care of a multidisciplinary team in intensive care. While he does not require assisted breathing and shows signs of improvement, his prognosis remains reserved under strict medical supervision.
