Paraguayan retailers report sales drops of up to 70 percent
The Association of Importers and Traders of Paraguay (Asimcopar) has reported significant economic distress following the crisis at ueno bank. Member businesses, including department stores and multi-stores across the country, are experiencing sales declines of up to 70 percent.
Beyond reduced revenue, Asimcopar warned that companies are facing losses in operating capital intended for inventory replenishment and import logistics. This has created a situation where businesses struggle to restock goods or meet financial obligations. The crisis also heavily impacts local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which account for approximately 50 percent of the products sold in multi-stores.
The association has called for urgent institutional and economic responses from authorities to restore stability and prevent widespread business closures throughout the country.
