Paraguayan Supreme Court reviews violence risk protocol

The Supreme Court of Paraguay is analyzing a new protocol designed to help Justices of the Peace evaluate risks of violence against women. The initiative follows the tragic femicide of 22-year-old Deisy Paola Giménez, who was killed despite having previously filed a complaint with a Justice of the Peace court.

The proposed protocol includes twenty indicators intended to provide judges with more rigorous tools for risk assessment and prevention. Developed through research by professionals from the National University of Pilar, the document incorporates international best practices—including models from the United States and Barcelona, Spain—while integrating contextual factors specific to the Paraguayan reality.
