Paraguayan truckers call national meeting to review freight costs
The National Association of Truckers (Asociación Nacional de Camioneros) has scheduled a national meeting for November 1, 2026, in Cruce Capi’i, Guairá. The assembly aims to address critical issues facing the transport sector, specifically focusing on freight costs and the implementation of official pricing tables.
Edgar Ortiz, president of the association, stated that the group is seeking to ensure compliance with reference cost tables and the activation of the 'carta flete' (freight letter). Ortiz noted that the process is incomplete and requires further adjustments from the government.
A primary objective of the meeting is the restructuring of the Transport Federation. The organization’s previous structure was dissolved during a prior encounter with the State. By forming a new official team, leaders hope to strengthen negotiations with government institutions, build trust among drivers, and achieve national unity.
Jorge Denis, vice president of the Guairá association, confirmed that representatives from various departments, including Alto Paraná, Capiíbary, and Caaguazú, have been involved in preliminary discussions to unify truckers across the country.
