Provefrut and ReySac challenge Ecuador electricity violation list
Agroindustrial companies Provefrut and ReySac have formally requested that the Ecuadorian government review and rectify official records following their inclusion on a list of alleged violators of electrical restrictions.
Provefrut, based in Cotopaxi, denied being a burden to the national power system. The company stated it has generated over 8,900 MWh since 2021 and contributed approximately 1,550 MWh to the National Interconnected System (SNI) in 2026 through thermal and photovoltaic resources. The firm expects to reach energy self-sufficiency by August 2027.
ReySac, also known as Sacos Durán, asserted that its two plants operate via self-generation using diesel systems. The company has requested an update to its technical records to reflect its compliance with current energy mandates.
