Tour de Rock reaches halfway point in British Columbia

The 2026 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock has reached its halfway point. A 22-person team of riders, including RCMP officer Josh Waltman, is participating in a 14-day, 1,200-kilometre cycling odyssey to raise funds for children living with cancer.

On Friday, September 25, the team completed a 60-kilometre ride from Parksville to Port Alberni, crossing a 400-metre summit into the Alberni Valley despite rainy conditions. The event serves to support pediatric cancer research, families, and Camp Goodtimes in Maple Ridge.

Participants have noted the strong community support and the emotional impact of the journey. The tour, which began in 1997, typically raises approximately one million dollars annually and has raised over $30 million to date. The riders are scheduled to arrive in Nanaimo on September 27 following a stop in Ucluelet.
