Paramount Anime Film 'Avatar Aang' Debuts as Disney's 'Vaiana' Premieres on Portuguese TV

Paramount Pictures released a new anime‑style film, "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender," in the United States on July 25. Portuguese artist Afonso Salcedo spent eight months in Los Angeles compositing the final images, working with studios Flying Bark, Studio Mir and Studio Ppuri in Korea and Australia. Director Lauren Montgomery described the project as “a love letter to anime.”

Disney’s animated feature "Vaiana" (known internationally as "Moana") will be broadcast on Portugal’s Disney Channel on August 1, with a Portuguese‑language dub. The 2016 film follows the Polynesian heroine Vaiana on a quest to restore balance to her island, and the original version features Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui.
