Paramount Primal acquires film rights to Nick Cutter’s horror novel ‘The Troop’

Paramount Primal has acquired the film rights to the 2014 horror novel ‘The Troop’ by Nick Cutter, also known by the author’s real name, Craig Davidson. Chris Basler has been attached to write the screenplay for the adaptation.

Lyrical Media will produce the feature film, with Tracy Rosenblum overseeing the project for Paramount Primal. The story centers on a group of boys during an annual scout camping trip who encounter a mysterious intruder. This encounter triggers a terrifying infection, forcing the group into a brutal struggle for survival against both the infected and one another.

This development marks a significant step for the project, which has been in the adaptation pipeline for several years. Paramount Primal, a new genre label led by J. D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, recently launched with the announcement of a new ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ movie.
