Paramount Unveils Star-Studded Cast for 'Children of Blood & Bone' Fantasy Film
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Paramount Pictures presented the first look at its upcoming fantasy film "Children of Blood & Bone," an adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's 2018 bestseller. The story, set in the fictional African kingdom of Orïsha where magical clans clash with a tyrannical ruler, is directed by Gina Prince‑Bythewood, marking her first feature film since 2022’s "The Woman King."
The ensemble cast includes Thuso Mbedu as heroine Zélie, with Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris and Tosin Cole in supporting roles. Production has been filmed on location across Africa, emphasizing real landscapes and practical effects over CGI. The film is slated for theatrical release on 15 January 2027. Author Tomi Adeyemi has publicly distanced herself from the adaptation, offering no further explanation.
