Paraná’s agricultural gross production reaches record R$212.6 billion in 2025

The Paraná State Department of Rural Economics reported that the state's Gross Production Value (VBP) climbed to R$212.6 billion in 2025, a nominal rise of 13% over 2024 and a real increase of 9% after inflation.

Livestock accounted for 53% of the total output, keeping its position as the leading sector for the fourth consecutive year and generating R$111.7 billion. Poultry contributed 17% of VBP, with 2.4 billion birds processed, producing R$35.5 billion.

Crop production, representing 43% of the VBP, earned R$91.2 billion. Soybean remained the top agricultural commodity, reaching 21.4 million tonnes and R$42.3 billion in value, a 14% increase. Corn production surged 34% to 21 million tonnes, while wheat also recovered. For the first time, sugarcane entered the top‑ten sector list, moving R$4.8 billion and yielding 36.7 million tonnes. The VBP indicator, calculated annually from about 350 products, also influences the distribution of ICMS tax to municipalities. The figures are preliminary and may be adjusted after municipal reviews.
