Paraná announces bidding for new Rio da Várzea bridge

The Paraná State Department of Highways (DER/PR) has released the bidding notice for the construction of a new concrete bridge over the Rio da Várzea on the PR-427 highway. The project, located between Lapa and Campo do Tenente, involves building a 150-meter-long structure parallel to the existing century-old metal bridge.

The new bridge will feature two lanes, shoulders, and concrete barriers. Once completed, the historic metal bridge will be repurposed exclusively for pedestrian use to preserve its cultural value. The bidding process is scheduled for November 18, with an estimated 14-month construction period following the design phase.
