Terra Roxa clinic investigated for torture and false imprisonment of 72 women
The Ministério Público do Paraná (MPPR) has launched Operation Aurora to investigate allegations of torture, kidnapping, and false imprisonment at a therapeutic clinic in Terra Roxa. Approximately 72 women, including individuals with disabilities, were reportedly held at the facility, often against their will.
Investigations suggest a pattern of severe abuse, including physical and psychological punishments, forced labor, and the suspension of family visits. Authorities also uncovered the systematic use of sedative drugs, referred to internally as ‘Danone’, which were allegedly administered to force patients into unconsciousness. Furthermore, there are reports of medical neglect and threats used to intimidate victims during regulatory inspections.
As part of the operation, the clinic's owner and manager was placed under a 30-day temporary arrest. Search and seizure warrants were executed at five locations, including the clinic and private residences. During the proceedings, another individual was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. While the investigation is ongoing, the clinic has not been immediately closed; authorities plan to transfer the patients gradually due to local logistical and healthcare constraints.
