Paraná coastal cleanup removes over 6 tons of waste

Volunteers collected more than 6 tons of solid waste from beaches, rivers, and mangroves along the coast of Paraná, Brazil. The mobilization took place in Antonina, Pontal do Paraná, Paranaguá, and Guaratuba during activities for World Cleanup Day on September 17 and 19.

Approximately 360 volunteers participated, including representatives from socio-environmental projects, civil society organizations, universities, local government, fishing associations, and various companies. In Paranaguá alone, the efforts resulted in the collection of roughly 4.8 tons of waste.

The initiative was coordinated by the ‘Olha o Clima, Litoral!’ project from Mater Natura and the Marine Biodiversity Recovery Program (Rebimar) of the MarBrasil Association. These efforts are part of the Petrobras Socioenvironmental Program.
