Paraná completes wheat planting and advances corn harvest as farmers prepare for debt‑renegotiation program

The Paraná State Department of Rural Economy confirmed that wheat sowing in the state reached 100% of the estimated area, while the second‑crop corn harvest progressed to 29% of the planted area, boosted by dry, sunny conditions. The department noted favorable weather for planting and harvesting but warned of heat stress and limited precipitation in some regions that could affect wheat productivity.

In parallel, the state’s FAEP system announced that agricultural producers may now formally express interest in Brazil’s debt‑renegotiation program created by provisional measure 1.376/2026. Farmers can submit a standardized request to their credit institutions, indicating losses in at least two recent harvests and a minimum 30% drop in gross income, to enable renegotiation of rural credit up to eight or ten years, depending on severity.
