Paraná Football Federation defines 2027 state championship format

The Federação Paranaense de Futebol (FPF) has established the format for the 2027 Campeonato Paranaense. The competition will feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six.

In the first phase, teams will face opponents from the opposing group. The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played in a home-and-away format. The semifinals and final will also consist of two matches. To determine relegation, the bottom two teams from each group will compete in a playoff; winners will remain in the first division for 2028, while losers will be relegated to the second division.

The tournament is expected to begin on January 6, 2027, to accommodate the 12 required match dates. The competition also offers qualification spots for national tournaments, including the 2028 Copa do Brasil and the 2028 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D.
