Paraná gubernatorial hopeful Sandro Alex pushes integrated rail concessions and port expansion
Pre‑candidate Sandro Alex of the PSD highlighted the continuation of Governor Ratinho Junior’s development model for Paraná, emphasizing logistics infrastructure, rural energy, credit and innovation to boost the state’s agribusiness. He cited the historic road‑investment program that has delivered over R$ 60 billion in projects such as the tripling of BR‑277 and extensive concrete highways.
Alex also proposed a unified railway concession model that would combine the state‑run Ferroeste network with the federal‑owned Malha Sul, mirroring the road‑concession approach that attracted more than R$ 80 billion in investments. He noted that the Port of Paranaguá is ready for higher rail traffic, with the upcoming Moegão Ferroviário terminal – a R$ 687 million project that will raise the port’s rail handling capacity by about 60%, allowing up to 900 wagons per day.
