Brazilian states commit over R$2 billion to health infrastructure and services

The Paraná state government has spent more than R$2 billion since 2019 on health equipment and sanitary transport for all 399 municipalities, buying 9,332 vehicles and investing R$543.2 million in devices such as X‑ray machines, ultrasound, defibrillators and tablets.

In the same state, the Secretariat of Health authorized an annual R$12.5 million to fund multiprofessional teams in 207 municipalities under the Proaps programme, adding to R$60.4 million transferred in the first half of 2026 and a planned R$55.4 million for the second half.

Legislative leaders Alexandre Curi and Ney Leprevost secured R$60 million for two new pediatric hospitals in Curitiba – the HCzinho project (R$20 million) and the Hospital Pequeno Príncipe (R$20 million) – and directed additional funds to the Erastinho cancer centre.

In Paraíba, state deputy Luciano Cartaxo allocated R$6.4 million of parliamentary amendments to hospitals and health institutes, including R$1.2 million for the Napoleão Laureano cancer hospital and smaller amounts for three other hospitals, a vision institute, a cleft‑lip clinic and a mobile health bus.

The Minas Gerais government confirmed a R$7.2 million grant for the Uberlândia Cancer Hospital, part of a larger regional health package, after a promotional cheque mistakenly displayed a R$10 million figure.
