Paraná Legislature approves restructuring of Fundaseg

The Legislative Assembly of Paraná has concluded voting on a complementary law project to modify the Foundation for Supporting Public Security Activities of Paraná (Fundaseg). The bill, which passed its second round with 33 votes in favor and 10 against, now moves to the executive branch for sanction.

The proposed changes aim to restructure the entity and expand its scope of action. Fundaseg will be permitted to operate not only within Paraná but also in other states. Its mission includes supporting the State Secretariat of Public Security (SESP), agencies within the Unified Public Security System (SUSP), and other institutions related to social defense, justice, and citizenship.

Additionally, the project establishes new revenue streams for the foundation. These may include income from research, technological innovation, intellectual property, technology transfer, and the licensing of assets related to its core purposes. The entity will also engage in scientific and technological development, applied research, and support for the penitentiary system.
