Paraná municipalities advance family foster care services

Municipalities in Paraná, Brazil, are advancing social protection initiatives through family foster care services.

In Ibirama, the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance and Housing is developing a service that provides temporary placement in family environments for individuals needing to be separated from their original family nuclei. The program currently includes two registered families: one for children and adolescents, and another for the elderly. A technical meeting is scheduled for October 19, 2026, at the CRAS of Ibirama to support registered families and invite the community to learn about the service.

Meanwhile, Apucarana will host its 1st Municipal Seminar on Family Foster Care on October 23, 2026, at the Cine Teatro Fênix. The seminar aims to strengthen the protection network for children and adolescents. The event will feature specialists, including representatives from the Instituto Acolher, the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJPR), and the Public Ministry of Paraná (MPPR), to discuss integration between different sectors working in child rights protection.
