Paraná municipalities spent R$ 1.2 billion on musical shows

Municipalities in the state of Paraná, Brazil, spent approximately R$ 1.2 billion on musical performances between 2021 and the first half of 2026. During this six-and-a-half-year period, local governments contracted 1,158 artists, including individuals, duos, and musical groups.

Data released by the Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Paraná (TCE-PR) via its new Municipal Event Spending Panel shows that only 6 of the state's 399 municipalities (1.5%) did not use public funds for such events. The most highly compensated artists included Fernando e Sorocaba (R$ 18.1 million), Guilherme e Benuto (R$ 13 million), and Ana Castela (R$ 12.6 million).

The TCE-PR stated that the new interactive panel, part of the 'Information For All' portal, is intended to promote transparency and assist citizens in monitoring public resource management. The court emphasized that the panel is purely informative and does not issue judgments on the appropriateness of cultural promotions, noting that the right to culture and leisure is constitutionally guaranteed.
