Paraná officials hold meetings on biogas development and public health

The Superintendência-Geral de Gestão Energética do Paraná (Supen) held the 7th Biogas and Biomethane Committee meeting to strengthen the sector in the state. Discussions focused on connecting production and demand, with planned investments exceeding R$ 1 billion for biomethane production and gas distribution infrastructure. Industry representatives, including Renault Geely do Brasil, AESA, and CRJ Logística, shared challenges regarding the use of biomethane in industry and freight transport.

Separately, the State Health Secretariat (Sesa) and the Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (Cosems-PR) met to establish new public health guidelines. Key initiatives include expanding neonatal screening from 7 to 51 exams, including DNA testing for rare diseases through a partnership with FEPE. The state also aims to implement DNA-HPV testing for cervical cancer screening across 256 municipalities, supporting a goal to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health issue by 2030. Other health pacts addressed congenital heart disease care, maternity discharge protocols, and access to contraceptive methods such as IUDs and subdermal implants.
