Brazil law enforcement conducts major operations against crime

Brazil is experiencing a surge in diverse criminal activities, ranging from organized drug trafficking to domestic violence. In São Paulo, data from the Police Delegates Union (Sindpesp) reveals that Women's Defense Police (DDMs) averaged 39 arrests per day in 2025, having requested nearly 95,800 urgent protective measures for women at risk.

Large-scale law enforcement operations have yielded significant results across several states. In Pernambuco, integrated operations against organized crime resulted in 531 arrests and over R$ 22 million in losses to criminal groups over a 90-day period. In Alagoas, the eighth phase of Operation Cerco Fechado led to 11 arrests and the execution of 21 judicial warrants across multiple cities.

Drug enforcement remains a major focus. Authorities in Mato Grosso do Sul launched Operation Infiltrados to dismantle a scheme where police officers diverted seized cocaine back to traffickers, resulting in the arrest of several officers. In Guarulhos, the Federal Revenue Service seized 116 kg of cocaine valued at R$ 5.8 million. Other notable seizures include 94 blocks of marijuana in Patos de Minas and a large marijuana plantation in the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve in Acre.
