Sandro Alex nominated by PSD as Paraná governor candidate

The Partido Social Democrático (PSD) held a state convention in Curitiba on 25 July 2026, where it officially nominated federal deputy Sandro Alex Cruz de Oliveira as its candidate for governor of Paraná. The nomination was backed by a broad coalition that includes the PSD, the PSDB‑Cidadania Federation, the União Progressista Federation (formed by União Brasil and Progressistas) and the Republicanos party.

Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, who led the event, said the candidacy will continue the projects of his administration in infrastructure, health, education and public security. He also noted the presence of national figures such as Gilberto Kassab and Ronaldo Caiado. The party will announce a vice‑governor candidate by 5 August, submit the registration to the Paraná Electoral Court (TRE‑PR) by 15 August, and the campaign period begins on 16 August. In addition, the convention confirmed Alexandre Curi (Republicanos) as the PSD‑supported candidate for the Senate.

The event drew thousands of party leaders, mayors, deputies and civil‑society representatives, highlighting the coalition’s unity ahead of the 2026 elections.
