Paraná removes over 120 tons of scrap from aerial cables
More than 120 tons of scrap material have been removed from aerial telecommunications cables in Paraná, Brazil, during 2026. The cleanup effort is part of a permanent task force aimed at regulating cables installed on utility poles shared by the electricity and telecommunications sectors.
Coordinated by Copel in partnership with municipal governments and various telephony and internet companies, the initiative has impacted more than 50 cities across the state. The primary goals of the operation are to increase public safety and improve the organization of urban infrastructure. Copel is responsible for inspecting structures and notifying operators regarding irregular wiring.
In September, integrated regularization actions are scheduled or underway in ten municipalities, including Londrina, São José dos Pinhais, Umuarama, Cianorte, Almirante Tamandaré, Ibiporã, Ivaiporã, Cornélio Procópio, Medianeira, and Piraquara. Other cities, such as Maringá and Cascavel, also maintain ongoing programs or upcoming planning meetings to continue the work. The current results have already exceeded initial projections, which aimed for 150 tons of removed material for the year.
