Paraná reports R$ 27.6 billion in cash reserves for government transition

The state of Paraná recorded R$ 27.6 billion in cash availability as of August 2026, marking the third-highest reserve among Brazilian states, following São Paulo and Minas Gerais. These fiscal figures were presented by the State Secretariat of Finance (Sefa) during a public hearing at the Legislative Assembly of Paraná (Alep).

The reported amount accounts for all contracted expenses and previous financial obligations. While the liquidity indicates strong payment capacity, officials noted that a portion of the funds is earmarked for specific purposes and cannot be used freely.

Additionally, Paraná reported record investment levels, with R$ 7.6 billion committed between January and August 2026, surpassing the total amount invested in all of 2025. The state also maintained constitutional spending minimums, allocating 33.95% of net tax revenue to education and 13.28% to health. These fiscal data points form part of the transition report being delivered to Governor-elect Sergio Moro.
