Paraná rural unions report growth and promote biodigestion

Rural unions in Paraná, Brazil, have reported a 14% increase in membership through the Sistema FAEP ‘Sindicato Protagonista’ project. Between 2025 and June 2026, participating entities saw their total members grow from 12,690 to 14,511. These unions provide various services to producers, including legal consultancy, technical assistance, tax compliance, and professional training.

In the southwest region of the state, agricultural innovation is being highlighted through biodigestion projects. A field day organized by Sistema FAEP, IDR-Paraná, Embrapa, and the Coopenad cooperative demonstrated how animal waste can be repurposed. The Coopenad cooperative has invested R$ 20 million to manage approximately 160,000 liters of waste daily, converting it into biogas, energy, and high-quality organic compost for fertilizers. This process helps producers reduce production costs and address environmental licensing requirements.
