Paraná Summer Harvest Sets New Grain Production Record

The Brazilian state of Paraná closed its 2025/26 summer grain season with a record harvest of 26.3 million tonnes, 6 % above the previous cycle’s 24.7 million tonnes, according to data from the Department of Rural Economics. Soybean production led the surplus at 21.8 million tonnes, while corn output rose from 3.1 million to 4.1 million tonnes.

FAEP president Ágide Eduardo Meneguette attributed the achievement to three main factors: favorable weather conditions, expansion of cultivated area—especially for corn—and increasing technological levels on farms. He said, “This record result is the combination of favorable climate, area expansion, especially of corn, and the ever‑higher technological level of Paraná’s crops.” The organization also highlighted the role of continuous farmer training and technical assistance.

In Guarapuava, farmer Eduardo Pletz reported a historic corn yield of 369.9 sacks per hectare, crediting decades of improved soil management, crop rotation, and the use of higher‑yielding seed varieties, as well as the support of FAEP’s free training courses.
