Paraná transport costs rise due to loading and unloading delays
In Paraná, Brazil, prolonged waiting times for loading and unloading operations are increasing costs and reducing productivity for road transport companies. This issue is particularly acute in a state central to agribusiness and foreign trade. In 2025, the state's ports recorded a record 73.5 million tons, a 10.1% increase from the previous year, while the Public Sorting Yard at the Port of Paranaguá saw a 29.5% rise in truck arrivals, reaching 507,915 vehicles.
The Sindicato das Empresas de Transporte de Cargas no Estado do Paraná (Setcepar) reports that these delays consume significant portions of a driver's productive eight-hour workday. Even within the legal limit of five hours established by Law No. 11,442/2007, idle trucks continue to generate fixed costs such as financing, insurance, tracking, licensing, and driver salaries without generating revenue.
