Paraná updates registry of authorized geriatric residences

The Municipality of Paraná has updated its registry of authorized geriatric and gerontological residences, which is accessible to the public via the ‘Mi Paraná’ platform. This registry allows families and residents to verify which establishments are legally permitted to operate and understand the specific services they provide.

Inspections are conducted weekly through a joint effort between municipal and provincial authorities, including the Secretary of Health, the Office for the Defense of Older Adults, and the Ministry of Programs and Policies for the Health of Older Persons. These inspections verify operational conditions, required documentation, authorized services, and hygienic-sanitary standards in food preparation areas.

Under local Ordinance No. 9.503, facilities are categorized by the needs of the elderly. Gerontological residences are intended for independent individuals, providing housing, food, and recreation. Geriatric residences offer additional medical and nursing care for those requiring higher levels of assistance. Authorities encourage community collaboration to report any irregular establishments via the 147 neighbor service or 911.
