Paraná water supply disrupted by heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall across the state of Paraná has disrupted water supply services in several municipalities. The sanitation company Sanepar has deployed task forces, generators, and water trucks to mitigate the impact and restore services.

In the Vale do Ribeira region, Cerro Azul has been severely affected due to blocked access roads, which hindered both water and electricity repair teams. Adrianópolis is also facing supply issues following power outages and access difficulties. In the Curitiba Metropolitan Area, Quatro Barras is waiting for electricity to return, while Almirante Tamandaré is experiencing partial supply due to river turbidity and a broken large-scale pipeline. Balsa Nova is utilizing water trucks to serve disconnected districts.

To prevent further disruptions, Sanepar has implemented contingency measures in the Southwest region, including the installation of generators in Cascavel, Foz do Iguaçu, Toledo, Pato Branco, and Francisco Beltrão. The company is also using amphibious pumps in Dois Vizinhos, Guarapuava, and near the Iguaçu River to maintain water intake despite rising river levels. Residents are advised to prioritize treated water for hygiene and food consumption.
