Paraná weather alert: Storms and sharp temperature drop expected

Paraná is facing significant weather instability due to a combination of a low-pressure system and an advancing cold front. Meteorologists from Simepar and Climatempo predict heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and the potential for storms with hail and wind gusts reaching up to 60 km/h across various regions, including the North, West, and Curitiba metropolitan area.

Following the period of precipitation, a polar air mass is expected to cause a sharp drop in temperatures. By the Independence Day holiday, minimum temperatures could fall as low as 5°C in several areas, including the South and Curitiba. Some regions may see accumulated rainfall exceeding 60 mm between Friday and Saturday.

This follows recent severe weather that led the state government to declare emergencies in six municipalities—Marmeleiro, Xambrê, Tibagi, Renascença, Pinhão, and Diamante do Oeste—after storms caused significant damage to hundreds of homes.
