Paraná wins national award for youth civic engagement program

The city of Paraná has been recognized at the V National Congress of Citizen Participation and Decentralization held in La Rioja. The award was granted to the program ‘Yo participo en comunidad’ (I participate in community) for its efforts in promoting youth involvement in public policy and community projects.

The initiative works alongside local educational institutions to allow students to identify community needs, develop proposals, and collaborate with the municipal government to implement solutions. Officials noted that the program strengthens participatory democracy by enabling students to directly influence the development of their neighborhoods through participatory budgeting processes.
