Paraná workers protest after municipal parking service is awarded to private firm

The Municipality of Paraná has awarded the city's metered parking service to a private consortium, the Unión Transitoria de Empresas (UTE) SAEM – IT NET S.A., following tender No. 44/2026. The winning bid received a score of 88.83 points based on the evaluation commission's report.

The municipal administration stated that the new contract includes the initial incorporation of 47 workers under Collective Labor Agreement No. 130/75. Additionally, a percentage of the revenue will be allocated to training workers who are not included in the first stage of implementation.

This decision has triggered labor unrest among the 130 current parking attendants. Following an assembly at Plaza 1° de Mayo, workers scheduled a mobilization to the Municipal Palace for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. The group is seeking a meeting with Mayor Rosario Romero to demand guarantees regarding their job continuity. Representatives from the Movimiento de Trabajadores Excluidos (MTE) expressed significant concern over the lack of clarity and information regarding the future of the existing workforce, particularly older employees and those with disabilities.
