Paranaguá former mayor José Baka Filho dies at 64

José Baka Filho, the former mayor of Paranaguá, has died at the age of 64. He passed away in Curitiba while receiving treatment for cancer at the Erasto Gaertner Hospital, following complications from a pulmonary infection.

Baka Filho served two consecutive terms as mayor of Paranaguá between 2005 and 2012. A civil engineer by training, he graduated from the Federal University of Paraná and held a specialization in Environmental Management Systems from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná.

The municipality of Paranaguá has declared three days of official mourning in recognition of his public service. During this period, flags will be flown at half-mast at municipal offices, and official festive events are suspended.
