Paranavaí reports 695 traffic accidents through August

Paranavaí has recorded 695 traffic accidents through the end of August, according to data from the 8th Military Police Battalion. Avenida Deputado Heitor de Alencar Furtado has been identified as the location with the highest number of occurrences, accounting for 119 of the total incidents. Other high-accident areas include Avenida Presidente Tancredo Neves, Rua Pernambuco, and Rua Manoel Ribas.

The Military Police attributed a portion of these accidents to driver inattention, speeding, and failure to obey traffic signals. In response to these safety concerns, local authorities conducted an educational blitz on Avenida Heitor de Alencar Furtado as part of National Traffic Week.

During the campaign, which carries the message ‘Slow down, your greatest asset is life’, officials distributed informative materials and engaged with motorists and pedestrians to promote road safety. Ademir Giandotti Jr., the municipal Secretary of Security and Traffic, emphasized that awareness is a vital tool for saving lives and urged citizens to respect signaling and other road users.
