Paraná's dairy cows near 200,000 kg lifetime record as region targets global protein leadership by 2040

A Holstein cow in Carambeí, Paraná, produced almost 200,000 kilograms of milk over its lifetime, setting a new benchmark that rivals international standards. The animal, RCH Janny 1010 Igniter Shottle TE, was highlighted at the 2025 Holstein Breed Highlights awards, underscoring the state's growing reputation for high‑productivity genetics, longevity and efficiency in dairy farming.

At the same time, western Paraná is positioning itself to become the world’s leading supplier of animal protein by 2040. The region’s food‑processing sector generates more than R$ 70 billion annually, with roughly 2,500 industries—725 directly linked to animal‑protein production—exporting to about 150 countries. Around 35 % of output is destined for overseas markets, especially in Asia and Mercosur. Stakeholders cite investments in automation, traceability, education and advanced agritech as key drivers toward the “Ambição para 2040” program, which aims to boost employment, energy supply, animal health and technological innovation across the agribusiness chain.
