Paraná's Tech Exports Surge as Companies Face Public Funding Barriers

Companies in Paraná are encountering difficulties securing public financing for innovation projects. Although Brazil’s FINEP provides substantial non‑repayable capital for technology and research, many startups and firms have been eliminated early from funding calls due to technical mismatches and inadequate proposal structuring. An event hosted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná’s HOTMILK ecosystem on May 13 offered guidance on meeting FINEP criteria and showcased tools such as the Capital Hub platform to map financing opportunities.

At the same time, the state’s technology export sector recorded a record US$ 3.8 billion in 2025, a 15 % increase over the previous year. Growth is driven by high‑value products ranging from automotive components and medical devices to electronic systems and energy equipment. Companies like Curitibá‑based Plumatronix illustrate the export success, supplying intelligent balances and meteorological stations to markets in Argentina, Costa Rica and Portugal. State policies, incubators such as Tecpar, and substantial public investment in startups have reinforced the ecosystem, creating thousands of jobs and positioning Paraná as a leading hub for high‑technology manufacturing and export.
