Paraíso do Norte woman arrested for animal cruelty

An 18-year-old woman was arrested in flagrante for animal cruelty in Paraíso do Norte, Paraná. The arrest followed the discovery of a dog abandoned near a highway in severe condition, suffering from malnutrition, injuries to one paw, and mange.

The Civil Police of Paraná noted that the suspect's claim—that the dog had escaped three days prior—was contradicted by the animal's physical state and the distance from her residence. Furthermore, although the woman claimed to have provided veterinary care and medication, she failed to produce any evidence of such treatment. Authorities had previously advised the woman's family regarding the necessary care for the animal the week prior to the incident.
