Paratus Group launches 2,000-km fiber route in East Africa

Paratus Group has launched a 2,000-kilometer terrestrial fiber route, known as the Goma-to-Mombasa (G2M) route, to enhance connectivity in East Africa. The route connects Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo with Mombasa on the Kenyan coast, passing through Kigali, Kampala, and Nairobi.

This new infrastructure provides an east-west connection that grants access to international subsea cable capacity landing at Mombasa. To complement the fiber route, Paratus is utilizing points of presence and interconnections at data centers and internet exchanges to improve routing flexibility for cross-border operations.

The expansion also integrates satellite connectivity following the recent launch of Starlink services in Uganda, offering options for businesses in areas where fixed infrastructure is limited. Paratus executives are presenting these developments at the ITW Africa conference in Nairobi.
