Paratus Uganda launches Starlink satellite services

Paratus Uganda has become the first provider in the country to launch Starlink’s low earth orbit (LEO) satellite service. This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding and an operational license agreement between the Uganda Communication Commission and Starlink.

The service aims to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity to enterprise customers, particularly in remote and underserved areas. Target sectors include mining, healthcare, tourism, NGOs, and government agencies. Paratus Uganda, a joint venture between Paratus Group and Roke Telkom, intends to integrate these satellite services with its existing terrestrial infrastructure, such as the 2,000km Goma-to-Mombasa route, to offer resilient, multi-layered network solutions across the East African region.
