Parauapebas and Blumenau municipal councils advance policy reforms

The municipal government of Parauapebas held a meeting on 7 July with representatives of public‑service unions to discuss the future of the cidade's food allowance (auxílio‑alimentação) for its employees. The dialogue examined whether the benefit should continue to be paid in cash or be converted to a food‑card, following a recommendation from the Tribunal de Contas dos Municípios that flagged pension‑contribution implications for cash payments. The city plans to draft a bill for the municipal chamber and will hold further union assemblies before finalizing the proposal.

On the same day, the Câmara de Vereadores of Blumenau approved the draft law PL 9445/2026, which sets new rules to restrict and control visitor access inside municipal schools and early‑education centers. The measure aims to enhance security by limiting internal entry to authorised personnel, requiring parents and guardians to remain at school gates, and delegating implementation details to the municipal education secretariat. The proposal now awaits final municipal council voting and mayoral sanction.
