Parauapebas municipal court delays reintegration order for Vila Nova area

The municipal government of Parauapebas announced that the judiciary upheld the plausibility of the city's claim over public land in the Vila Nova residential area, but postponed the decision on a provisional injunction for reintegration of possession. A new hearing is scheduled for 6 August 2026, at which the request will be re‑examined.

In the meantime, an urgent injunction bars any new occupations or expansion of existing occupations on the site. Violations could incur a fine of R$ 30,000 and may lead to compulsory reintegration and civil or criminal liability. Authorities also warned against the “effect‑carona” – opportunistic occupation of disputed lands – and urged residents to respect the current status until a further court ruling.
