Parauapebas police recapture prisoner after hospital escape attempt

A man under police custody, identified as Diogo Brauna da Silva, was recaptured in Parauapebas, Pará, after attempting to escape from the Hospital Geral de Parauapebas (HGP) following his medical discharge.

Silva had been hospitalized since Monday after being shot during a police confrontation related to a market robbery. While under the supervision of Penal Police agents, he managed to flee the facility and led authorities on a 15 to 20-minute chase through nearby streets. During the pursuit, shots were fired by the custody agents.

The escape attempt mobilized the Municipal Guard and the Ronda Ostensiva Municipal (ROMU). Following the chase, agents successfully located and detained the suspect. Silva was returned to the hospital for medical evaluation before being transferred to the prison system. In addition to the robbery investigation, police noted that Silva was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for rape.
