Parauapebas reports 6,530 missed medical appointments in August

The City Hall of Parauapebas released data showing that 6,530 medical appointments and exams were missed in August due to patient absences. The administration launched a campaign titled ‘Faltômetro de consultas e exames’ to highlight that these vacancies could have been utilized by others on waiting lists.

Of the total absences, 4,830 occurred at Basic Health Units (UBSs). Other locations included the CER II with 911 absences, the Polyclinic with 620, the CTA with 138, and the CAPS II with 31.

The campaign has faced criticism from local residents, who argue that the administration should focus on improving management, network integration, and communication rather than simply publishing absence numbers. Critics pointed to long waiting times and issues with the coordination between community health agents and the municipal network as underlying causes for the missed appointments.
